I work in Sap HR module mostly and currently use third party tools for extraction, and standard tools like idocs, lsmw, etc. for importing.
My question is, is BODs used also in the HR module, or in which modules is it intended.
I have googled to try and find an answer but don't really get a definite reply.

Scenario:
We have BODS 3.x installed on Win 2003 server X1 and and its database MS SQL 2005 is on another Win server X2.
We have done a fresh installation of BODS 4.2 and IS 4.2 on Win 2008 server Y1 and its database MS SQL 2008 on another Win server Y2.
The requirement is to upgrade the BODS 3.x to BODS 4.2 SP4.
We are planning to use the BODS 4.2 that is already installed on server Y1.
The following are the steps that I plan to execute. Please provide your inputs.
1. Database backup of the BODS 3.x and backup of admin.xml and dsconfig.txt files.
2. Copy and restore the Repository databases of BODS 3.x from X2 to Y2
3. After the repository DB is copied to Win server Y2, run the repository manager of BODS 4.2 and Upgrade the repositories of old BODS 3.x
4. After the upgrade is completed of the repositories, migrate all the objects using the DSXIupgrade40,bat in the new server Y1. I am assuming this migration of all objects would bring over all the jobs, workflows etc to the new server.
Is this the right way for this upgrade? Did I miss any steps? Please suggest.

I am trying to run below command through Data Service using Script, this script will try to delete files older than 6 days, this works perfectly fine when i run from cmd prompt and i am getting exit code 1 error from DS, need expert help here.

I created an SAP Datastore with Transport method as RFC. I registered RFC Program ID in SAP and i am able to extract data in a regular dataflow. Surprisingly, even if i remove RFC destination in datastore and put a dummy value, i'm still able to extract data.
I am curious as how is it working. It should throw an error. is it using RFC Read table function in SAP ?

I was not able to keep a proper headline to this ..but the problem goes down here..
I have '2 fields' which have "Range of Account Numbers" and another field which is the description of those fields..Refer the screen hot below.
My Requirement is to map the above "TXT45" field to another table which contains the list of all Account numbers with respect to the above field range.
EX : If VONKT : BISKT
60315 60580 then my TXT45 field should map with all the Acc Number between the 60315 to 60580.
So ,If anyone could suggest me a way it would be a great help.

Is is possible to integrated BODS and Hadoop to extract and load data into Hadoop environment. I couldn't find any document or wiki for the configuration. I am wondering whether it is really possible or not.

I have a requirement to send a mail, when ever the job fail. I tried with smtp_to() and Mail_to() function but with both i am unable to send mail, I configured the sender and server info in DS server manager. but still not able to send the mail. I need to send mail to the customer gmail. What are else configurations i need to do. can any one please help me.
I followed the Note1573029
but at fourth step i am facing an issue as the user is not authenticated to send anonymous mail.

There are three columns which has blanks from the input file (XLSX) with the help of the case transform I need to send the BLANK's saying (Exception: The column is Blank) to the FAILURE target (.CSV) to one SINGLE file.
if I apply each column separate and take separate targets, it will work fine, but I want in single file.

I have a VBScript which will retrieve sheet name from excel file.
When I double click the file, script is running fine and it shows the sheet name. But when I run it from Data Services, I am getting the below error.

I have placed both vbs file and excel file in job server. Excel is installed in job server. Full access is provided to the folder for user which DS job server uses to run the job.
And is there anyway to check who created or modified the job in DS?

Wondering if there is a way to find out when the job was last modified or deployed into production using metadata tables in BODS. My requirement is to find the job in my local repo is of the same version of my production repo. I don't have access to production repo but have access to database, so if there is a way to find out when job was last modified from the database using metadata?

Please provide your valuable suggestions for the error we are facing in the below scenario.
Scenario:
We are performing the Address Validation where,
input is Street and City,given to GAC transform(GB directory) which returns suggestions list related to it.
We are holding the Suggestion list in the XML structure, that's where we are facing the parsing issue.
Please find the below error for reference:
Note: For some inputs its working perfectly fine i.e. when input street and city the directory returns suggestion list and list is getting perfectly mapped to the XML structure prepared by us.
My current XML has UTF-8 encoding and I presume that some of the characters returned by the directory in suggestion list aren't supported by XML and as a result the XML is failing to parse if that is the case then How can I match the encoding of the directory and the XML?
Please provide your valuable suggestions.

And the keys fileds are VERSN and VONKT\BISKT ..and there will be no VERSN field in my Source table ,So from here I should take only one TXT45 filed based on VERSN value = (some specific value) from above screeshot to pass to the Acc Field in my source,if that value not exists the I should go with next,like wise I have 4 priority values ,If my priority values are not in the above VERSN then I should pass TXT45 as NUll.
EX : If VONKT : BISKT
60315 60320 then my TXT45 field should map with all the Acc Number between the 60315 to 60320.
So ,If anyone could suggest me a way it would be a great help.
