Data Services connection to Hyperion Essbase
I've looked for discussion around connecting to Hyperion Essbase using Data Services, but haven't found a definitive answer.
Oracle EPM installation provides a DataDirect ODBC driver. Has anyone successfully used this to directly connect to an Essbase cube? Our current workaround uses Hyperion SmartViews (in Excel) but we would prefer to extract data directly if possible to automate the process.

Hi there,
I am loading a EBCIDIC file from my application server into BW using data services 4.0. The file has been loaded without any issue until today where the below error was thrown:

I checked my RFC connection which is good.
I loading the records in the BW PSA table in 1000/package. DS is pushing the data into BW as full load, and the full load contains the yesterday data + delta load
Before the error 9000 entries were updated into the BW PSA. I tried to debug the job by setting a break point after 9000 entries (Idea is to look into the packet 10 (entries 9000 to 10000) since entries updated 1000/package), but I wasn't able to see any format issue in the data.
Did someone experienced such an issue already? Also the error message is not indicative enough for debugging (particular column or row where the job failed)
Could you please suggest an approach for debugging? Any resolution approach will be much appreciated.

Cannot display external metadata from SAP Application Datastore
Hi All,
Under SAP Application Datastore, we can import following metadata:
Extractors – Functions – Hierarchies – IDOCs – tables
I created an SAP application datastore to connect Data services to SAP CRM system, unfortunately I not able to display external metadata to import in data services from my local repository.
Issue 1) Under my SAP Application Datastore, I only have Extractors option and I can only see the folder, not the extractors within the folder.
Issue 2) Under my SAP Application Datastore, I am missing the Functions – Hierarchies – IDOCs – tables options.
Could you please throw some light here, what I am missing here? Your help is much appreciated.

Issue with exec() command in 4.1
I am having issues with exec() in DS 4.1 The same script works fine in 3.2. Below is the script I am using -

Basically, this script kicks off another job. But when I run the job with the above script to kick off the other job, its giving error 50307/50616.
In the above EXEC statement, if I use '8', there's no error but this job is not kicking off the other job as it is supposed to. But if I use '1' in the above EXEC statement, its failing with error 50307/50616.
Function <exec> failed to launch program <E:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\DataServices\LOG\JOB_XXX_ABC>, due to error <50616
Is this a privilege issue? In 3.2, this is all working fine.
In 4.1, we are having this issue. We are migrating the jobs from 3.2 to 4.1

Consuming WCF services from BODS 4.1
Hi Experts ,
To begin with please help me understand what is WCF,WCF services.Why do we need WCF .
Also please guide me as to how to invoke or Consume WCF services through BODS 4.1.
Just to give you an idea we need to integrate with Sharepoint and wanted to create a file in sharepoint using BODS 4.1 by consuming services in Sharepoint and hence we landed up at WCF .
Any help is appreciated.

BODS 4.1 & BI 4.1 both installation asks CMS detail
Hi,
We installed IPS 4.0 & BODS 4.1 and BI 4.1 and the installation setups asks CMS repository authentication. So we created CMSDS db for BODS 4.1 and CMS db for BI 4.1. We don't want to dependent on each other. Is it ok to have two different CMS or we have to have single CMS?

Auditing Feature- encountering wierd issue

When i apply Auditing feature on the source, i am not able to load data into the Target. But once i remove the audit, It loads successfully.

Error loading data from DS to SAP BI PSA
Hello,
We are using DS 4.1 as an ETL to push data into SAP BI 7.01 SP 07 from a SQL Server database.
We are having a random problem when loading data from DS on to the PSA Table in BW.
Sometimes at the beginning of the load the process marks an error on the BI side, although it continues loading.
The error we get is:
Ex=1 Error when opening an RFC connection
Message no. RSAR051
We have checked RFC connections from both DS and BW and they are ok.
The load job is been triggered from DS.
Any suggestions on how to solve this issue?

BODS And Rapid Mart- Data Model Job Only Creates 9 Tables Before Running Into a Syntax Error.
Hello Experts,
I am in the process of installing the Sales Rapidmart on an Enterprise Evaluation Version of SQL 2008 R2 DB.
I am using version 4.1 of Data Services, and 4.0 Of the Sales Rapidmart.
The current behavior I am experiencing is the following; When executing the Rapidmart_Data_model Job, the job will get to the DF_Create_Table_SAP step in the job, It will only create the 9 first tables. After creating the ACTIVITY_HIER_BAD table, the next table the job should create is the ACTIVITY_HIER_BAD_HZ table, however, the job crashes on this step and we get a vague syntax error message that states "Syntax Error Near ',' " which is not entirely descriptive.
Has anybody Experienced a similar type of behavior where the Rapidmart_datamodel_job only creates the first few tables before throwing an error? If so, what steps did you take to get this resolved?
Any and all help will be extremely appreciated.

Unknown symbols in BODS error log
Dear All,
We are Connecting SQL server with ODBC Data Direct driver 6.1 (Part of BODS installation package) and able to extract/load data into SQL Server but if any error occurs, unable to see the SQL Server error messages from BODS error log, it is showing some unknown symbols as attached screen shots.
BODS version : 4.1
Job server OS : Linux
ODBC Driver: /dataservices/DataDirect/odbc/lib/DAsqls25.so [DataDirect 6.1 SQL Server Wire Protocol]
Can any one help on this issue

EIM AdaptiveProcessingServer Running with Errors
Hi ,
I have installed DS & IS in my system . I have seen in the server status in the Central Configure Manager as EIM Adaptive Processing Server running with Errors. I have checked in the CMC it is showing like
Data Cleansing Advisor Service
The service did not start
This service has no configuration property.
Please help me how to resolve this issue.

Why is the web service cannot be invoked?
Hi Experts,
Scenario: I have created a web service from a function module from SAP CRM using SOAMANAGER. I wish to invoke this web service from Data Services.
I have tried to invoke the web service using the 2 types of data store avaible in Data Services:
- One Web Service datastore
- One Adapter datastore
Both have the same WSDL URL and I see the defintion of the web service in both. Fine.
I created 2 dataflows:
- One invoking the function from the Web Service datastore
- One invoking the function from the Adapter datastore
When I execute the batch job, I get different errors in the 2 dataflows, but the root cause seems to be the same: it cannot access and execute the web service.
- In the dataflow using the function from the Web Service data store, I get the error RUN-248005 There is no response for thte web service. Ensure that the network, web server, and service are running properly. Also ensure that the service call time out is set properly
- In the dataflow using the function from the Adaptor data store, I get the error RUN-058110 Error calling function. Web Service client unable to invoke Web Service Server. Error: (0)null
I have checked the Data Integrator documentation and nothing is mentioned on what is a proper time out setting.
I have followed the white paper of Michael Eaton [Building Data Integrator Real Time Jobs and Calling Web Services|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/20bd5e60-11f9-2b10-2bbb-b5109cceff08?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]. Nothing is mentioned in there in regards of special configuration. Yet, my scenario is a bit different here as I am using and external web service and not a published web service from Data Services.
Is there some Data Services configuration missing here? The web service is not secure: it as the lowest level of security, which is NONE! :).
What am I am missing :(?
