Conversion error in reading data from Cobol EBCDIC file

$

We are getting below error when reading EBCDIC file using COBOL copybook

"Cannot convert data <--4> into type <Decimal>. Context: Column <>."

BODS version: BODS 4.2 SP3 P2

We have verified that there is no data issue.  Upon searching on this error, I found that this is a known issue in this version of BODS, however when reading from SAP Extractor. I am not sure if they are related error.

If anyone has insights, please share.

Thanks

IPS 4.1 SP05 installation problem

Hi All,

I am trying to install

IPS 4.1 SP5 on

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

During the installation, I encountered an error,

SAP Business Objects binary has stopped working.

I checked the windows event viewer where I could find the below error.

I already had IPS 4.1 SP2 installed on the machine, which I believed was corrupt, and so decided to uninstall, and install a higher service pack.

I had an IP address entry in the hosts file under "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" for the previous installation, which I have removed now.

Currently the installation is stuck at'Waiting for the Central Management Server to start'.

How do I install the IPS 4.1 SP 5 successfully?

Calling an RFC from a validation function

Hi All,

I'm attempting to build a validation function from within BODS to validate VAT codes using the R3 RFC EU_TAX_NUMBER_CHECK.  I've maanged to successfully call an RFC from within a query, but not sure what the syntax is to call an RFC from within a custom validation function.   Does anyone have any sample code to do this?

We extract data from SAP BW Source using RFC connection. This was working fine without any issue. But, Now we are experiencing zero rows pulled from SAP BW source.

Job is not throwing any errors or warnings..

We tried running the same job in other environments as  well but same issue there too.

It would be a great if anyone can share a fix to resolve.

Connect Data Services 4.2 SP4 With Mainframe ADABAS

$

Good afternoon,

I would like to develop an ETL using SAP Data Services 4.2 SP4 connecting the ADABAS mainframe.

In the product documentation mentions:

2.5.2.1 Mainframe interface

The software Provides the Attunity Connector datastore que accesses mainframe data sources through Attunity Connect.

The data sources que Attunity Connect accesses are in the list following. For a complete list of sources, refer to the Attunity documentation.

● Adabas

2.5.2.1.1 Prerequisites for an Attunity datastore

Attunity Connector accesses mainframe data using software That You must manually install on the mainframe

server and the client location (Job Server) computer. The software connects to Attunity Connector using its ODBC interface

Attunity.jpg

You must perform the installation on the mainframe server? Through this connector it is possible to access? No need to buy and install the Attunity Server?

In the Attunity site mentions:

The Business Objects Data Integrator product includes direct support for the Attunity Server ODBC interface.

Someone could send me the procedures required to perform this setting in ADABAS mainframe?

Thank you

Error calling Web Service from Data Services 4.2 into BFC 10.0

Hello,

We have FIM 10.0/DS4.2/BFC 10.0 in our landscape. We are getting following error message when DS (linked to a FIM 10.0 job) attempts to make a web service call to BFC to send data to be loaded into it. This is happening regardless of the volume of data, even for a very small load. Has anyone come across this type of error before or could provide some information on what may be causing this response from web service/call from DS? Any useful information which could help investigate this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Date Conversion issue in BODS while using with BW

$

0

Hi Experts,

Not sure if the question has been answered earlier, but I couldnt find in SCN.

We are currently using SAP BODS 4.2 with SAP BW 7.4 as source to pull data from BW.

When we are using BODS to get data out of BW using OHD, we are gettting warnings with date conversion.  When date field in BW doesnt have any value, BODS is giving a warning, the issue doesn't occur when the date has values in BW. The error is as below

RUN-053006: Cannot convert string <        > to date using format string <yyyymmdd>.

We have tried the following options:

1. Using nvl, ifthenelse with combination of trim functions to avoid the warnings

2. Changed the metadata in BODS for the date fields to varchar fields, but it has converted dates to 000000 or 01011900.

We have realised the error is generated at the OHD operator itself not during the transformation.

As of now BODS job is running with desired output, however

1. Job is taking more time

2. Monitor log is showing as empty

3. Warnings are generated for each date field where it is blank in BW.

Any solution to these data conversion warnings would help us in reducing job run time.

Thanks in advance.

SAP Application Extract

Hi

Greetings.

Trying to extract data from SAP Application and for that i am able to successfully create RFC connection but getting below error when trying to import a table from the same server.

Error: Connot import the metadata table <name-KNA1>.

SAP error dynamically importing SAP table: <ERROR: TABLE KNA1 DOES NOT EXIST.>. (BODI-1112339)

Below are the parameters passed, part of Data Store created:

ABAP execution option as "Generate and Execute"

Data Transfer Method as "Shared Directory"

Directory: \\B\opt\ds\ds32dev1\transfer_ABAP

Above directory is what i am using. To resolve this issue, do we need to have tables placed under this directory.

Please provide me some inputs/steps on how to have these tables in SAP BW and also to extract same through SAP Dataservices.

Thanks,

Abdulrasheed.

SAP BODS history preservation not working flag column type char

Hi,

recently we updated the sap bods 4.2 SP2 to version 4.2 SP5. And BO 4.1 SP5.

In SAP BODS 4.2 SP2 History preservation Current Flag Column type Char(1) Works fine, But in BODS 4.2 SP5 History preservation Current Flag Column insert "space".

Table in Oracle Database 11

History Preserving

print1.png

We need to be insert '1' or '0' but are inserting space, if change data type char for int, works fine.

Is there any restriction  in bods 4.2 SP5 for data type char for history preservation?

Has anyone had similar problem?

Trying to add some more detailed auditing

$

I know this is a question that gets asked here all the time, so I apologize in advance, but I've not been able to piece enough information together from other threads, to figure out quite what I want to do.

I found information about the Audit feature which sounded really great, until I got to the part about it not being able to do any pushdowns after an audit point.  Our target is almost always HANA, so I don't think that's going to work for me.  We really want things to be pushing down as much as possible.

Then I saw alot of information about various AL_* tables in the "repository", but I'm a little bit confused how to access those.  It may be that I'm just making it harder than it needs to be.

Do I just need to create a datastore that points to the database that holds the repository information, the same way I would to any other database?  And then just build flows to query against those tables?  Or are the repo tables accessed in some other way?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I have a input table which is shown below,

Name Company
Jim Apple
Ben Google
DonTCS
SamInfy

Now I have a different table which looks like this,

Company
TCS
IBM
Oracle
Google
Apple
Infy

My question is how can we replace the company name for all the people mentioned in the first table with a random company name   from the second table and for aparticular person the company name should always be different form the one mentioned in the first table. The final table should look like this

Name Company
Jim IBM
Ben Oracle

Sam

TCS

Thanks in advance for the help

OK, yesterday I did not receive this error when running this Job and all my other projects run fine and access the same Data Sources.

So why then am I receiving this error. I have checked the Data Sources for this job and all seem fine. I have rebooted my PC.

Sometimes when I run this Job trying to figure out the error it will give me an additional message that it cannot communicate with the data flow. (see second message)

Data Transport FTP file getting truncated

$

Hi.

I'm getting the following error on a production system:

|Data flow DF_AfsAStg_SAP_MBEW|Reader ADF_AfsAStg_SAP_Mbew End of file was found without reading a complete row for file </archivos_ds/proy_mdm/fuentes_sap/DT_AfsAAStg_SAP_Mbew.dat>. The expected number of columns was <109> while the number of columns actually read was <66>. Check the input file for errors orverify the schema specification for the file format. The number of rows processed was <866630>.

The Reader ADF_AfsAStg_SAP_Mbew is an ABAP data flow which transfers a file (with Transport_Format) to the FTP location mentioned on the error. Checking the file, it's getting truncated after some point, as shown below:

truncated.png

The corresponding source row is (look how LAEPR and ZKDAT translate to empty on exported file):

source.PNG

The row and column at which truncation occurs varies from execution to execution. The Transport_Format configuration is the following:

transport_format.PNG

I have tried:

  1. Uploading a bigger file using a stand-alone FTP client to check if truncation also occurs. No truncation ocurred.
  2. Changing column delimitier to pipe '|'. Then I get the following error: A row delimiter was seen for row number <1> while processing column number <1> in file </archivos_ds/proy_mdm/fuentes_sap/DT_AfsAAStg_SAP_Mbew.dat>. The row delimiter should be seen after <109> columns. Check the file for bad data, or redefine the input schema for the file by editing the file format in the UI.
  3. Running the same data flow on a development machine, but with development data. No truncation or error was generated.

Any ideas how can I solve this truncation?

Thanks.
